Aromatisch-würziger, bitter-süßer Räucherstoff, der scharf und kräftig riecht, aber gerade deshalb sehr beliebt ist. Schon Plinius wußte um die fixative Wirkung des Galbanumharzes. In Räuchermischungen erhöht es die Intensität und Räucherungsdauer. Galbanum ist ungewöhnlich stark reinigend und wirkt erdend auf ängstliche und abgehobene Menschen. Es eignet sich sehr gut bei geistiger Erschöpfung und seelischen Krisenzeiten, da es entkrampfend und lösend wirkt.
